Updating the continuing saga of the Asia Tour, last week we rocked a very special event for Johnnie Walker in Singapore. Once a year formula 1 racing comes to Singapore for a weekend and all the city catches F1 FEVER. If you’ve never experienced attending one of these events, this is not full of the stereotypical redneck folks who watch NASCAR in the states. That stigma memo has not reached anyone’s desk out here. No, to the contrary, the event is quite chic and the parties are very high end. We saw McLaren Benzes and Lamborghinis parked outside. Several actually. We were very blessed to do one of the highlights of F1 weekend: the JET BLACK Party.

Arriving at the city we immediately headed to sound-check and got to tuning our equipment and checking to make sure everything is set up properly and sounding ok. Soon after we were joined by DJ TINA T and DJ M.O.S. They were all headlining the event along with us. We also met local Singapore DJ phenom DJ FM who got the crowd going early. After sound-check, we retreated back to our hotels in a frenzy. Why? Because the city is so breathtaking that we KNEW we wanted to stay another day!! Calling airlines for about an hour or so, we were disappointed to find out it would cost too much, and we decided to keep our current flights. Guess we will never experience the night safari :( At least on this trip. There’s always next time!

After a freshening up at the hotel, we had meet and greet at the club with some fans and local winners of a contest in Singapore for Johnnie Walker. We chit-chatted with them about Singapore, music, culture answered some questions and then had a light meal and drinks on the patio outside. The view from here was spectacular. There was this SICK laser show across the water too!  Props to the Mahfia for the dope shot during the laser show!

Apart from the HUGE Sands casino across the water with what appears to be a huge boat on top of 3 towers, the entire city has marvels of architecture. They love their unique buildings here in Singapore. The city is mad lush and tropical too. They manage to incorporate all kinds of plant life in the facades of buildings, lobbies, airports, you name it! Shoulda posted some quality pics to facebook! Oh btw, Singapore unlike China, does not block facebook. But it does much like China block all the naughty websites. It is interesting to note, if you remember, Singapore was also the home to the big “caning” incident with that American teen Michael Fay  who vandalized some stuff out there. His punishment was 4 months in jail and 4 canings, who by local accounts is so painful that you pass out immediately from the strike! The laws out in Singapore are no joke, apart from vandalizing, here are some other offenses that will get you locked up, smoking weed (18 months in jail), spitting (hefty fine), littering (fine), importing chewing gum (fine), etc. Well I think my magnet will summarize plenty of the big ones :D

By the time we started playing the club was already jumpin. Our set didn’t start til 2am so we proceeded to enjoy the Johnnie Walker open bar til then. Locally in Asia, they drink this combination of green tea and whisky that is outrageously good. When we weren’t drinking that we also had some special cocktails in the spirit of the whole F1 thing like the “Checkered Flag,” “Full Throttle” and “Grand Prix.” All in all is was a fantastic experience. We threw down til around 4am! Took some pics with some die hard aficionados and made our way back to the hotel for a good’s nights rest. The next day just did a bit of shopping, sightseeing, mahjong purchasing and then it was back to Shanghai! Big thanks to John Bosco Lopez and Funkguru productions for bringing us out! Party pics below!
